P.G. Wodehouse was a British author who was born in
Guildford, Surrey but
spent his infancy in Hong Kong, where his father served as a judge in the
British courts. In his adult life, he spent more of his time living in
Europe and the United States than in England.
He became famous for creating humorous novels that incorporate a nostalgic
view of England as it was for the more advantaged social classes before the
first world war.
Oddly, Wodehouse published separate British and American editions of most
of his novels, with the American version typically appearing in the year
before the British version; British and American editions differed principally
in punctuation and spelling.
Love Among the Chickens (1906)
Wodehouse's first novel is a tale of rural life in England. (Although this
