Note
The ebooks that are offered free of charge on this website are made for the
PalmReader.
The PalmReader is
now also known as the eReader. The name change emphasizes the fact that the
PalmReader is not just for Palm devices; there are now versions of the eReader
to accommodate most personal and handheld computers. Whether you have a PC
running Windows or the Mac OS or a handheld running either the Palm OS or
Pocket PC operating systems; there's an eReader for you. And each of the
more than 200, free,
downloadable volumes offered on this site will work equally well with any
version of either the PalmReader or the eReader. Get a free copy of the
eReader for your desktop or handheld computer

Free eBooks for your Itty Bitty Computer
Did you ever begin to read an old magazine (maybe in your Dentist's office)
that did not interest you in the least? Have you ever found yourself looking
for something to read while you waited to catch a plane or sat in somebody
else's waiting room? Maybe you like to read in bed?
If you have ever found yourself in any of those situations, then the
eReader is
perfect for you. A 32MB expansion card will easily hold a library of 100
novels that you can carry with you everywhere, and if you read in bed, you'll
find that a PDA with a backlit screen is a library and a reading light that
fits in one hand. Pages can easily be turned with a press of the thumb or
you can use the autoscroll function to automatically turn the pages for you.
All of the ebooks on this site are free and all are formatted for the
eReader. The eReader is also free, and you don't need to have a PDA to use
it. Versions of the eReader are available for MacIntosh and PC desktop
systems as well as all Palm-powered hand-held devices, and even Pocket PC.

The books on this site are high-quality editions, made to take advantage of
the best features of the eReader, with a complete table of contents and
accurate hyphenation to make the best use of your hand-held reader.

What's New?
We moved in June (2007) from one hosting service to another, without any
change in the domain name. As a consequence of that move there were some
disruptions of some services (e.g. downloads) for a week or two. All ebooks
in the library also got redated to the date of the move. But everything
seems to be back to normal now.
Since the move, we've added several new titles to the collection and
we've improved some titles that have been on the shelves for awhile. Be
sure to check the link for "See what's . . .
new",
in the upper left-hand corner of this page, to see which ebooks have been
recently added or improved.
The books that are offered on this site are in the public domain. That means
that the original copyrights have expired. The text of these books is
available elsewhere on the web as HTML web pages, or as text files, but the
text of most of these sources has been produced by a machine that scans
printed pages and produces an
ASCII
text file. The problem with this is that the machine was not perfect. It
sometimes mistakes an 'm' for 'rn' and a 'd' for 'cl'. Other mistakes are also
possible and do happen.
Some other eBook publishers don't mind these mistakes. They use these
same transcripts without correction. That's why some published eBook classics
contain errors in spelling and even grammar - mistakes that were introduced
by the transcriber and were never edited.
What I do
So I find the mistakes of the scanning machine and I correct them (manually).
Additionally, I insert hyphenation (I have developed special software to do
this), and formatting instructions that establish features such as special
fonts (italics and bold) and the table of contents. Most eBooks
"classics" publishers don't bother about hyphenation, it's just too much
effort for a book that will sell for $3.
What you can do
The original copyrights of the books on this site have expired, but the
format and other components contained in these books are the copyrighted
property of Itty Bitty Computer.
My desire, in developing and distributing these books, is that great
literature should be made available free of charge to anyone who wishes to
read, in order to promote a love of language and literature throughout the
English-speaking world.
That's why the books on this site have been edited to assure a high quality
transcription and are distributed free of charge. And you are free to beam
them to your friends or distribute them in any other way that you choose, as
long as you do not charge any fee or collect any payment for any book that you
download from this site. If you choose to distribute any of these books on a
website, then you must provide a link on that website to
http://www.IttyBittyComputer.com and cite this website as the source of the
book.
Any modification of the format of these books is strictly prohibited.
These ebooks are formatted for the
